Description

Situated alongside St John’s Road between St Osyth and Clacton, this 2-acre irrigation pond is one of two lakes managed by the club here. It is well-suited for both match and pleasure anglers, providing a variety of fishing opportunities. The depths range from 3 feet to 14 feet, featuring a fairly uniform lake bed that is very silty in places. The pond is enhanced by a large number of overhanging trees and some reed-lined areas, creating a picturesque environment.

This lake is only fishable from two banks, offering a total of 13 swims, allowing anglers to find their preferred spot easily. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a relaxing day on the water or compete in a match, this pond provides an inviting and versatile fishing experience.

As this is an irrigation reservoir, water levels can fluctuate, during lower water levels be aware of sloping banks and muddy conditions after periods of rain.


Fish Stock

The majority of the stock in this lake consists of Carp ranging from 3 to 12lbs, with an impressive estimated population of over 700 Carp. This significant stock provides ample opportunities for anglers to enjoy successful fishing outings. Additionally, the lake is home to a variety of resident silver fish, including Roach, Rudd, and Perch, adding diversity to the fishing experience. This rich ecosystem ensures that anglers have a rewarding and dynamic environment to explore.


Water Specific Rules

1) Open all year round.
2) Day fishing is from Dawn ‘til Dusk only.
3) Night fishing is only allowed with a night permit (guests cannot night fish).
4) During the hours of darkness, a receiver must be used, and alarm heads must be turned down.
5) Parking is in the car park or grass verge.
6) Fishing from numbered pegs only.
7) A maximum of 2 rods per person/ per swim all year round.
8) Bait boats are not permitted.
