Description
Located alongside St John’s Road between St Osyth and Clacton, this 2-acre irrigation pond is one of two lakes managed by the club in the area. It is well-suited for both match and pleasure anglers, offering a variety of fishing opportunities. The depths of the pond range from 3 feet to 6 feet, featuring a fairly uniform lake bed that allows for comfortable fishing conditions. Additionally, some overhanging trees provide shade and structure, while a large reed-lined area adds natural beauty and enhances the habitat for fish. This combination of features makes the pond an inviting destination for anglers looking to enjoy a relaxing day on the water.
As this is an irrigation reservoir, water levels can fluctuate, during lower water levels be aware of sloping banks and muddy conditions after periods of rain.
Fish Stock
The majority of the stock in this water consists of Carp ranging from 3 to 12lbs. In addition to the Carp, there is a healthy population of silver fish, including some impressive-sized Bream and Roach. Over the past couple of years, we have actively worked to reduce the number of Carp in the pond, focusing on creating a more balanced fishery.
To enhance the ecosystem, we have introduced a total of 24,000 mixed silver fish, along with 500 Crucians and 500 Tench. These new additions are designed to provide a more diverse fishing experience, moving beyond just “carp-bashing” to offer anglers a broader range of species to target. This effort aims to create a vibrant and thriving fishery that will be enjoyable for all anglers.
