Description

Located alongside the A120 between Horsley Cross and Wix, this 3.5-acre irrigation pond is one of two lakes managed by the club in the area.

Anglers will find strategically spaced swims along the A120 bank and at the end-bank closest to Wix village. Additionally, four more pegs are available in the far corner near the bungalow, which can be accessed via the Wix 2 access route, bringing the total to 13 fishable pegs.

The A120 bank features two sets of stairs and a gently sloping bank at the eastern end, providing relatively easy access to most areas of the lake. For added convenience and safety, large, secure gates ensure safe parking. These gates are situated just off a small track connecting the A120 to Wix village. We recommend approaching from Wix village, as visibility when entering or exiting the A120 from this track can be limited.

Depths range from 6ft along the reed-lined margins to around 20ft in the middle, depending on water level. As this is an irrigation reservoir, water levels can fluctuate, during lower water levels be aware of sloping banks and muddy conditions after periods of rain.

Fish Stock

This lake is an excellent all-around venue for both pleasure and match anglers, featuring a healthy population of Carp weighing up to 15lbs. In addition to Carp, anglers can find small shoals of Bream reaching up to 11lbs, Tench up to 6lbs, and Perch up to 3lbs, along with Roach and Rudd exceeding 1lb. During the summer months, match weights often exceed 100lbs, making it a highly productive fishing location.

In November 2023, approximately 2,500 fish, totaling 460lbs, were stocked to enhance the fishery. The majority of these newcomers are Roach, Rudd, and Bream, aimed at providing a much-needed boost to the silver fish stocks. This enhancement will further enrich the fishing experience in the lake, ensuring a vibrant ecosystem for anglers to enjoy.
