Renewal for 2026 / 2026

1st April means the renewal period has started. All the stationery is in both tackle shops, Clacton Angling and Elmstead Fishing Tackle, and they can renew your membership for you. Please remember you have to take your membership card with you, and cash or cheque, no paying by card.

If you need any changes to your card, address or catagory, the tackle shops are not able to do the changes. You will need to send off your card, payment and an SAE to the secretary. A change of category will also probably need another up to date photo.

Lastly, if you don’t have a night permit at the moment, please don’t ask for one when you renew. You will need to contact the Secretary to be added to the waiting list for one. We will know after the 1st June how many night permits we have available to allocate.

Home Farm Stocking 2024/25

Over the winter we stock 24,000 mixed silvers into Home Farm. With a large Catfish population this is required every few years to ensure there is a suitable stock of breeding silvers to act as a food supply for the Catfish. Home Farm has also seen large Perch in the past so a good number of these will likely also grow through to be decent silvers to fish for.

St.Osyth Rectangle Stocking 2024/25

As part of our stocking plans for the Rectangle to make it more of a mixed fishery, over this winter we have stocked c.60 Bream, c.120 Tench and 100 large Perch. I hope this shows the club commitment to offering a variety of target species to clubs members.

Improvements to the parking at Wix 2

Both parking bays on the village side have been improved and a large parking and turning area at the end of the track created. Path along the end of Wix 1 also levelled to provide access from the Wix 2 car park.

Thanks to Steve Cook, Mark Sherman, Allan Heffernan, Paul Marchant for helping with these essential improvement works.

Wix 2 Carp Stocking November 2024

We introduced on Thursday 14/11/2024 9 more Carp between 16-19lb to Wix 2. As we had drastically reduced the biomass we felt it was appropriate to bolster the Carp stock with high quality, good size fish. These were from a well known fishery management company as part of a stock cropping on an unfished estate lake. We got an extremely good deal, so it doesn’t alter our existing plans for the Rectangle and Home Farm this winter in terms of stocking.

Whilst they may not see the same growth rates as the larger farmed fish we have purchased over the past couple of years, these will quickly reach low 20’s and bolster the bulk of the stock meaning all the back-up stock will be upper doubles and above, with around 16 fish of good pedigree, with feeding, to reach substantial growth rates and possibly 30lb in less than 2 years.

Alresford Pit – Access Improvement Works

In co-operation with Mark the land owner, and kind contributions in terms of materials, equipment and labour from Super Trowel and Altrad Belle we have installed a brand new parking area at the bottom of the slope at Alresford.

This parking area can be used year round, as holds 4-5 cars. It is first come first served only and parking is strictly in the new area only, not on the grass.

You can see the Altrad-Belle post here.
